Nevertheless I booted 5.10.2 kernel and checked according to your linked post and Code:Ĭat /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/authorized all show 1 Thanks for your post, but I don't see how these could only affect 5.10.x kernels but not 5.9.x and earlier ones. Maybe some configuration of your system differs from tofurky's? Couldn't it be an issue of /sys/bus/usb/devices/INTERFACE/authorized? Like there. modprobing manually it shows same loading out-of-tree module taints kernel message reported above. Tested 5.10.2 and its same thing as described for 5.10.4/5 - builds fine, but does not load the module and create the wifi adapter. Sure, it's up to you, to check 5.10.2 or not. Kernel: usbcore: registered new interface driver rtl88XXau Kernel: 88XXau: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel. I can do modprobe 88XXau which returns no error and lsmod then lists the said module, but the wifi network just does not come up. The 9999 version compiled fine here, but booting 5.10.4 and 5.10.5 kernel, the 88XXau module does not show in lsmod. Did you try the kernel 5.10.2 with the module -9999?
I see, there was a confirmation ( by tofurki) that 5.10.2 works after applying the PR #773. Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk, and if they have eggs, get 6? It would be interesting to see the link to the issue. Just a guess: maybe the problem is due to that change in 5.9.9.Īpparently an upstream problem so I opened an issue. Last working kernel is gentoo-sources-5.9.8. Posted: Sat 9:53 pm Post subject: Re: usb wifi stopped working on recent 5.10.x kernels I too had used the solution as posted earlier by Jerem圓1 to get the wifi adapter working on Ubuntu 18.04.
Lsusb 88xxau upgrade#
If there is another package I could try, I'd love to come to know. I have the same problem as posted in this previously posted question: tp-link ac600 ubuntu not working after upgrade to 19.10. This is dmesg from a booted 5.10 kernel and this is from a working kernel 5.9.8 in case it helps track down the source of that problem.Īpparently an upstream problem so I opened an issue. I can modprobe 88XXau and its listed then, but it still does not establish network connectivity.ĭoes anyone happen to know if those kernels are not supported, or if there is a fix for this? Or is there another package/module I should try? With last few 5.10 kernels it compiled (at least the -9999 version), but booting those kernels there is no wifi connectivity and lsmod does not show 88XXau loaded. Last working kernel is gentoo-sources-5.9.8.īus 001 Device 002: ID 0b05:1853 ASUSTek Computer, Inc. I have this usb wifi stick and had it working for quite some time with rtl8812au_aircrack-ng from pentoo overlay.
